The association “Mjaft” (‘stop’) supported from the Foundation of the Open Society Institution for Albania, Soros, has published the second report, implementing thus the project “I go to vote”.
The organizers of the project, through monitoring the activity of the Albanian Parliament, during the period September 2006 – January 2007, have noted several transgressions, from all parliamentary groups.
The report criticizes the low presence of parliamentarians during the sessions and during parliamentary debates, as well as an unjustified raise of their declared incomes.
According to the report, the parliamentary group of DP (Democratic Party) has worsened its approach toward the electoral platform and respective promises made to its electorate, fulfilling only 17% of promised things; the opposition on the other hand has made no genuine legal initiatives.
The project attempts to narrow the distance between the electorate and the elected persons in the legislative institutions, enhancing the civil participation in the public policies.
