The network of Open Society for Albanian (NASO) and the Agency on Election Administration (ECA) held a round table on assessing the electoral practices in Albania. The round table is part of a debate on electoral reform, supported by "Soros" Foundation.
The table comes after a national survey with electors and shall be followed by other activities aimed at dwelling upon the all problems of the electoral reform such as the electoral system, vote counting, complaints and appeals, funding of political parties as well as media and observers.
In the presence of many experts of electoral issued from Albania and Slovenia, and of the Parliament Speaker Topalli and the ADHIR adviser Vulkanov, the technical round table managed to formulate the first recommending conclusions, which, at the end of the project shall be submitted to the Assembly of the Republic, the President of the Republic, political parties, international organizations headquartered in Albania and the diplomatic corps.
Even though the main role for leading this reform belongs to the Assembly and the political parties, the organizers believe that the conclusions and recommendations formulated by the non-committed experts shall give a better quality to the reform and offer more guarantees for developing non-contestable electoral practices.
