In the month of April the Foundation of Open Society for Albania (OSFA) launched the contest “Building public-private partnerships at the local government units”.  The aim of the contest was to encourage partnerships between private and public structures to better serve the community. The dissemination of best practice, the change of mind frames and the enhancement of transparency in the public-private partnership, are some of the criteria used by the selection Jury. Four municipalities came forth with nine projects to participate at the contest.

After positive considerations for the spirit of cooperation prevailing in the submitted projects, the Jury decided to award prizes as follows:

  1. First Prize in the amount of 20 000 USD was given to the Municipality of Kucova for the project “Rehabilitating the town’s market place”.
  2. Second Prize in the amount of 10 000 USD was given to the Municipality of Kruja for the project “Rehabilitating the Road of Varosh”.
  3. Third Prize in the amount of 7 000 USD was given to the Municipality of Tirana for the project “Rehabilitating the Bridge of the Tabaks”.

These amounts were given to the winning municipalities to implement new projects involving public-private partnerships.
