The Institute of Sociology, in the context of a Soros Foundation-led project on small grants, held a national conference in Tirana on issues and models of community organization in Albania. This conference came as a round-up activity of five forums of debates held in the cities of Durrës, Elbasan, Vlorë, Korçë and Gjirokastër and a similar one organized in the capital of Kosova, Prishtinë.
This project was urged from the indispensability to generalize the experience of these years in getting to know the models of community organization and to debate about these issues in public round tables and in the local and national media.
The national conference, with special references and treatments, was focused on several problems of the community organization such as the aim and the practice implementation of the community theory, models of communitarism, women in the community perspective, the community organization in the Albanian tradition, integration and the community spirit of immigrants, deepening of decentralization and efficiency of governing in the community, communitarism, education, etc.
At the end of the activity the organizers presented the outcomes of a national survey on communitarism and issued recommendations for the central and local institutions, putting a special emphasis on recommendations for the Ministry of Education and Science. |
