The Institute of Sociology, in cooperation with the Students government and funded by the “Soros” foundation announced the outcomes of the “Students and Public Life" project.

The ones committed in the project have investigated on the student commitment in the cities with public universities and remark that the students participation is 4-5 times lower than the participation of the retired. There are also problems in self-establishment of student organization, their co-operation with the academic leading staff, their vague and non-representative participation in decision-making, etc.

At the end of the project, the organizers suggested aid for and monitoring of the election of students councils, establishment and strengthening of students networks in all the cities with public universities, more institutional co-operation with representatives from local government, community, local media, etc.
