Round table on state budget monitoring

Specialists of economy, of the IMF mission in Tirana, Ministry of Finance, representatives of civil society and media were part of a round table dedicated to the 2008 state budget monitoring, part of a project realized by a group of experts and supported by Soros Foundation. Participants at the meeting, through the publication of the first study report, highlighted the needs of the country to deepen the dialogue between the interested parties in the budget drafting, implementation and monitoring process, particularly in the priority sectors.

Experts spoke on the budget realization during 2007, the macro-economic situation, status of the industrial production, business performance in the entirety, the export and foreign direct investment level compared to the previous year.

The experts highlighted that the energy problems and the quick growth of crediting caused problems last year. For 2008 the experts recommend realization of the investment fund for an annual time and asked for the avoidance of the continuous changes of fiscal policies and of the fiscal legislation. The project will last for one year and shall be proceeded by other public meetings in the months to come.
