31 May – 1 June 2006
The strengthening of institutional capacities of NGO-s is
a major objective of the Network of Open Society for Albania
(NOSA) under its civil society program area. The country’s
development stage and the development of the NGO sector itself
after fifteen years of existence require that their internal
leadership, managerial and operational structures be consolidated
and perfected. To achieve this aim, Partners Albania in cooperation
with OSFA crafted a program to assist civil society organizations
to improve their understanding of the laws and by-laws concerning
the sector, as well as to improve their financial management
towards achieving greater transparency vis-à-vis the
public.
Under the project “Strengthening the NGO sector in Albania”
Partners and OSFA delivered in the towns of Elbasan and Vlore
two training programs respectively on 26-29 April and 31 May
-1 June. The object of the training were issues relating to
“Non profit financial management” and “Registering
and operating a non profit in accordance with the new Albanian
law on the non profit sector”. Some of the results attained
under the program are: strengthened managerial capacities
of the non profit organizations, improved financial and accounting
systems, enhanced transparency of their financial transactions
and increased knowledge and understanding of the legal basis
governing the sector.
